Who we are

The Sub-Saharan Africa Advanced Consortium for Biostatistics (SSACAB) training programme’s primary objective is to facilitate the use of data for informing public health policy and practice in Sub-Saharan Africa. SSACAB II acts as a collaborative platform, uniting numerous African and Northern academic and research institutions to develop and improve biostatistical skills among researchers. The ultimate goal of our consortium is to create research nodes of excellence to grow the discipline and a biostatistical network to nurture researchers (MSc, PhD and Post-Doctoral Fellows) with advanced skills and expertise by providing funding for training and mentorship. Our collective aim is to enhance and refine biostatistical skills among researchers, contributing to the growth of the discipline, and foster a biostatistical network that nurtures researchers with advanced skills and expertise. Notably, our consortium places emphasis on leveraging open-access data derived from demographic and health surveillance sites and health research in the African region.

Teaching and Training

The Consortium is involved in post-graduate teaching (Masters, PhD and Post Doctoral fellows) in the field of Biostatistics within partner and collaborating training institutions. We also provide biostatistical support and training to other programmes through our centers of excellence.
